South Korean startup RLWRLD is making waves in the robotics world with its groundbreaking AI-powered foundation model designed specifically for robots. Unlike traditional robots that struggle with delicate materials or adapting to changing conditions, RLWRLD’s intelligent machines are being built to think, move, and react more like humans.
The secret lies in the company’s fusion of large language models (LLMs) with robotics software—an approach that allows robots to perform logical reasoning and make agile, precise movements. This next-gen capability opens the door for automating complex workflows across industries like manufacturing, logistics, and even retail.
Backed by a $14.8 million seed funding round led by Hashed, and supported by strategic investors like LG Electronics, SK Telecom, Mitsui Chemicals, and Amber Manufacturing, RLWRLD is already working on proof-of-concept projects. The funding will also support the development of advanced five-finger hand motions—a capability still out of reach for many competitors like Tesla or Figure AI.
RLWRLD’s founder Jung-Hee Ryu believes the future lies in robotics foundation models (RFMs), especially as Korea and Japan’s manufacturing strength creates a ripe environment for such innovation.
With humanoid robot demos planned for later this year, RLWRLD is positioning itself as a pioneer in reshaping how machines work alongside humans.
