Akhil Gupta, Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises and a stalwart in India’s telecom and capital markets landscape, has been appointed as an Independent Director on the board of Zepto, the fast-growing quick commerce unicorn. This strategic appointment comes as Zepto prepares for its highly anticipated IPO later this year, marking a crucial step toward strengthening its corporate governance and board maturity.
Gupta brings with him a wealth of experience, having played a pivotal role in the public listings of Bharti Airtel (2002), Bharti Infratel (2012), and Airtel Africa (2019). His deep expertise in financial strategy, regulatory compliance, and institutional engagement positions him as a valuable asset as Zepto accelerates its growth trajectory.
He joins an influential board that includes Zepto’s Co-founders Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, Anu Hariharan (Founder, Avra), and Suvir Sujan (Co-founder & MD, Nexus Venture Partners). His appointment signals Zepto’s commitment to IPO readiness, operational discipline, and long-term value creation in India’s digital commerce space.
