Amitava Mukherjee has officially taken charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC Group, India’s largest iron ore producer. Having previously held the additional charge of CMD, he has been a key figure at NMDC since 2018 as Director (Finance). In addition to leading NMDC, he serves as Chairman of NMDC Steel Limited and Legacy Iron Ore Limited.
Mukherjee has been instrumental in expanding NMDC’s global footprint, spearheading gold mining ventures in Australia, and driving record-breaking iron ore production. A seasoned Cost Accountant and senior officer from the Indian Railways Accounts Services, he played a critical role in commissioning the NMDC Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh.
His strategic vision, financial expertise, and focus on responsible mining are set to strengthen NMDC’s position as a global mining powerhouse. Under his leadership, NMDC is poised for further expansion, innovation, and sustainable growth.
