Bengaluru-based satellite propulsion innovator Bellatrix Aerospace has announced its expansion into the United States with the launch of a Delaware-based subsidiary, marking its first physical presence in the American market. To spearhead this strategic move, Chris MacDonald, a veteran with over 17 years in the space and energy sectors, has been appointed Vice President – US Operations.
MacDonald, formerly with Terran Orbital and Astra, revealed plans to establish a US-based manufacturing facility, aligning with the company’s vision to serve the rapidly growing commercial space sector. Bellatrix has already signed an MoU with a major US satellite manufacturer, positioning itself as a preferred propulsion partner.
Founded in 2015 by Rohan M Ganapathy and Yashas Karanam, Bellatrix is India’s pioneer in sustainable green propulsion technologies. The startup has collaborated with ISRO and raised $11.3M from investors like Inflexor, BASF, and Deepika Padukone.
“With Chris onboard, we’re ready to bring our proven propulsion expertise to the US,” said Karanam.
