Ajit Joshi has been named Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), where he will lead the Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM) and the Financial Stability Department. His role will focus on strengthening financial stability measures and driving data-driven policy decisions.
With over 30 years of expertise in statistics, information technology, and cyber risk management, Dr. Joshi previously served as Principal Adviser at RBI. He has also been a faculty member at the Institute of Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad, and has contributed to key macroeconomic statistics and policy committees.
Dr. Joshi holds a master’s degree in statistics from Nagpur University, a Ph.D. in monetary economics from IIT Madras, and a Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. He is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
In this leadership role, Dr. Joshi will play a crucial part in RBI’s financial and statistical operations.
