Stefan Schaffer Takes the Helm at Deutsche Bank India GCC

Deutsche Bank has announced the appointment of Stefan Schaffer as CEO of its India Global Capability Centre (GCC), marking a pivotal leadership transition at a critical time in the bank’s global technology roadmap. In addition to this role, he will serve as CIO for Corporate Functions and Head of Technology Centres, reinforcing his influence on global digital strategy.

Schaffer steps into the role following the departure of Dilipkumar Khandelwal, bringing a deep legacy of leadership in tech operations—from heading Deutsche Bank’s Bucharest Tech Centre to leading shared applications and services. His focus on simplification, standardization, and reuse has been instrumental in modernizing the bank’s global technology infrastructure.

India remains a strategic innovation engine for Deutsche Bank, with 23,000 employees—including 8,000 engineers—powering tech hubs in Bengaluru and Pune. Schaffer’s appointment underscores the bank’s commitment to India’s dynamic GCC ecosystem, which is projected to reach $100B by 2030.
