Germany-based semiconductor leader Infineon Technologies has announced plans to set up a Global Capability Centre (GCC) at GIFT City, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in the state’s growing technology ecosystem. The facility will be the first GCC in Gujarat and is expected to employ around 400 engineers, strengthening India’s position in the global semiconductor industry.
This move aligns with Gujarat’s new GCC policy, introduced last month to attract multinational corporations. The new centre will be Infineon’s second GCC in India, complementing its operations in Bengaluru, Noida, Pune, and Vadodara.
According to Vinay Shenoy, MD, Infineon Technologies, the centre will drive semiconductor chip design, product software development, IT, supply chain management, and applications engineering. It will support Infineon’s global R&D and digital initiatives, advancing next-generation mobility, energy efficiency, and security solutions.
Ahmedabad was chosen for its emerging semiconductor ecosystem and rising manufacturing investments. Infineon aims to achieve €1 billion in annual revenue from India by 2030, reinforcing its commitment to the region’s technological growth.
Gujarat targets 250 new GCCs, 50,000 jobs, and INR 10,000 crore investments, positioning itself as a premier GCC hub.
