India Tops Global AI Trust Index: KPMG Study 2025
India leads the world in trust towards Artificial Intelligence, with 76% of Indians confident in AI technologies — well above the global average of 46%, according to a new KPMG-backed global study led by Melbourne Business School.
- 90% of Indian respondents say AI improves accessibility and effectiveness, while 97% intentionally use AI at work. Yet, there’s a dual reality — 78% worry about AI’s negative outcomes, and 60% report reduced human interaction.
- Despite high trust and optimism, concerns persist. Around 70% of Indian employees have used AI in ways that breach policy, and 73% have made mistakes using AI. Still, with 83% of Indian organizations having an AI strategy and 86% offering responsible AI training, governance is improving.
- As India races ahead in AI adoption, these insights reflect a transformative yet complex journey. AI is boosting efficiency and innovation but demands greater transparency, ethical use, and robust regulation.
“India is at the forefront of AI-driven change — but trust must be earned through responsibility,” says Akhilesh Tuteja, KPMG.
