TurboML’s $12M AI Initiative to Transform Indian Language Technology

San Francisco-based real-time machine learning platform TurboML has announced a $12 million initiative to develop an AI foundational model for Indian languages. This ambitious project aims to revolutionize natural language processing (NLP) and AI-powered linguistic solutions, making digital communication more accessible and inclusive across India’s diverse linguistic landscape.

Co-founder Siddharth Bhatia revealed that TurboML has engaged with India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and recently met MeitY Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to align the project with India’s digital transformation goals. The initiative is expected to bring together leading AI researchers of Indian origin worldwide to drive innovation in language AI.

With a targeted timeline of just eight months, TurboML’s AI model will enhance efficiency, inclusivity, and accessibility for digital interactions in multiple Indian languages. This development is a crucial step in strengthening India’s AI ecosystem and positioning the country as a leader in indigenous language AI technologies.
