Google has officially disclosed the pricing for Veo 2, its next-generation AI-powered video generation model, which was first introduced in December. According to Google’s pricing page, Veo 2 costs $0.50 per second, translating to $30 per minute or $1,800 per hour for AI-generated videos.
To put this in perspective, Google DeepMind researcher Jon Barron compared the cost to Marvel’s blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame”, which had a $356 million production budget, or roughly $32,000 per second—a massive contrast in cost efficiency.
While Veo 2 is not yet capable of producing full-length feature films, it can generate high-quality video clips of two minutes or longer, making it a potential game-changer for content creators, advertisers, and filmmakers.
In contrast, OpenAI’s Sora model offers AI video generation through a $200 per month ChatGPT Pro subscription, following a different pricing model.
As AI video technology evolves, Google’s Veo 2 pricing could redefine video production, making high-quality AI-generated content more accessible than ever.
