Meta has announced LlamaCon 2025, its first developer conference focused on generative AI, scheduled for April 29, 2025. The event will showcase the latest advancements in open-source AI and provide developers with insights into building applications using Llama models.
Meta’s Llama models have gained significant traction, with industry leaders such as Goldman Sachs, AT&T, and Accenture leveraging them. The models have been downloaded millions of times, and 25+ partners, including Nvidia, Dell, and Snowflake, are hosting them.
However, Meta faces growing competition. Chinese AI firm DeepSeek has reportedly developed models that outperform Llama in efficiency and cost-effectiveness, challenging Meta’s position in the AI space.
With a planned $80 billion AI investment in reasoning models, multimodal AI, and agentic capabilities, Meta is positioning itself for long-term AI leadership. The company also faces regulatory challenges, including copyright and data privacy concerns, particularly in the EU
