Code Smarter, Stay Safer: GitHub’s AI Security Tools Are Here!

GitHub is redefining code security with the launch of two powerful AI-driven security tools: Secret Protection and Code Security, designed to safeguard developers from cyber threats like never before. Starting April 1, 2025, these advanced solutions will be available as standalone products, making high-end security accessible to developers and teams of all sizes without requiring an enterprise license.

With Secret Protection, developers can detect and prevent secret leaks before they happen, leveraging AI-powered scanning, push protection, and secret scaling. This proactive shield ensures sensitive credentials never get exposed in public or private repositories. Meanwhile, Code Security takes vulnerability management to the next level by identifying and fixing flaws with AI-driven tools like Copilot Autofix, code scaling, and security campaigns, empowering developers to write more secure code effortlessly.

For the first time, GitHub is allowing teams to adopt these tools independently, offering flexibility without compromising security. Secret Protection is priced at $19 per month per active committer, while Code Security costs $30 per month.

Additionally, GitHub is rolling out a free secret risk assessment for GitHub Team and Enterprise users, giving them the power to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen data protection. With the recent launch of Agent Mode for GitHub Copilot, AI is stepping up to become an autonomous coding partner, detecting and fixing errors in real-time.
