What Makes Apeiro Energy’s ‘iWind’ Turbines a Revolution in India’s Energy Sector?

Born out of a college friendship and a shared passion for engineering, Apeiro Energy is on a mission to democratize access to clean power in India. Co-founded in 2021 by mechanical engineers Kalpit Prajapati, Prakhar Yadav, and Puru Kumar, Apeiro is reimagining renewable energy with technology designed for India’s unique wind landscape.

At the heart of this innovation lies the iWind series—Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) engineered to perform in low wind speeds of 4-6 m/s, unlike traditional turbines built for higher conditions. These compact, modular turbines can generate 30–40% of rated output even in low-wind zones. Rigorously field-tested across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, iWind is optimized using advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and structural simulations.

Apeiro’s hybrid iWind Hygrid system is already powering 31 homes and community centers in rural Maharashtra, outperforming solar-only systems during monsoons. The startup follows a dual revenue model—building wind-solar microgrids and partnering as a tech provider.

Backed by awards like the IRENA NewGen Rising Star and grants from HDFC and MeitY, Apeiro has already offset 6.5 tonnes of CO₂ and saved over 2,000 litres of diesel.

With a bold plan to scale production, raise ₹87.5 Cr in funding, and expand globally, Apeiro Energy is leading India into a more inclusive, sustainable energy future.
