Honeywell Unveils AI-Powered Digital Holographic Microscopy for Faster Medical Diagnostics

Global technology giant Honeywell has introduced Digital Holographic Microscopy, a groundbreaking AI-powered technology designed to revolutionize medical diagnostics. With applications across industries, its most immediate impact is in healthcare, particularly for peritoneal dialysis patients, who face a high risk of abdominal infections.

Currently, diagnosing such infections takes 1–2 days due to the need for specialized lab equipment. Honeywell’s portable point-of-care device captures high-resolution images of dialysis fluid, which AI algorithms analyze to detect infections in real time. This allows for quicker diagnosis and faster treatment decisions.

Unlike conventional microscopes, Digital Holographic Microscopy does not require expensive lenses or chemical staining. Instead, it uses computational algorithms to process holographic images, making biological sample preparation easier and more efficient.

Beyond healthcare, this technology can monitor air pollutants and water quality in industries like pharmaceuticals and food production. As big tech increasingly invests in healthcare, Honeywell continues to support deep-tech startups to drive innovation.
