E-Governance
In a landmark move toward digital transformation, the Assam government has signed an MoU with Google to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) for enhanced efficiency, speed, and transparency in governance. The agreement was formalized between Gopinath Narayan, Principal Secretary of the IT Department, and Ashish Wattal, Director and Country Head of Google Cloud, in the presence of IT Minister Keshab Mahanta in Guwahati.
Minister Mahanta highlighted that the collaboration focuses on building ethical AI governance frameworks, developing AI skills among officials and students, and executing pilot projects where AI can create measurable public value. The initiative also includes establishing an AI Centre of Excellence in partnership with Google and Paradigm IT to design innovative governance solutions.
As Assam prepares to unveil its AI-IT Policy 2025, the state aims to emerge as the AI hub of Northeast India, promoting ethical innovation, data sovereignty, and inclusive digital growth.
