Manufacturing
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging) facility of Micron Technology in Sanand, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in India’s semiconductor manufacturing journey. According to the Prime Minister's Office, commercial production has commenced, with the first Made-in-India semiconductor memory modules now being shipped to global markets.
Approved under the India Semiconductor Mission with an investment exceeding ₹22,500 crore, the facility will feature approximately 500,000 square feet of advanced cleanroom space. The ATMP unit will convert high-end DRAM and NAND wafers into finished memory products designed to meet accelerating demand from AI, data centers, and high-performance computing applications.
The operationalisation of the plant strengthens India’s ambition to emerge as a competitive semiconductor hub while reinforcing supply chain resilience and expanding its footprint in the global electronics and advanced technology ecosystem.
