Oracle has set a new benchmark in cloud computing by introducing Multicloud Universal Credits, a unified currency that allows enterprises to run AI and database workloads seamlessly across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Announced at Oracle AI World 2025, the breakthrough was hailed by Maria Colgan, VP of Product Management for AI and Mission-Critical Data, as a long-awaited milestone in customer freedom and flexibility.
Colgan emphasized that Oracle’s approach views hyperscalers as collaborators, not competitors; echoing Larry Ellison’s long-standing philosophy of openness. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure SVP Karan B. added a touch of humour, noting that Universal Credits serve as a simple, powerful way to streamline multicloud spending and resource usage.
The event also saw the launch of Oracle Database 26ai, which Colgan described as a transformational leap in real-time, mission-critical AI. With AI embedded directly into the data platform, not added as an external layer, Oracle aims to bring intelligent reasoning closer to core transactional systems.
