Lenovo Begins AI Server Production in India, Opens AI-Focused R&D Lab in Bengaluru

Lenovo has announced the start of AI-powered server production at its Puducherry plant, with plans to manufacture 50,000 enterprise AI servers and 2,400 high-end GPU units annually. This facility will serve both domestic and international markets, with over 60% of production set for export across the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Additionally, Lenovo revealed plans to open a state-of-the-art AI-led R&D lab in Bengaluru, its fourth globally, after Morrisville, Beijing, and Taipei. The lab will focus on server designs, development, and AI innovation, reinforcing Lenovo’s commitment to R&D and India’s role as a global tech hub. These initiatives are part of Lenovo’s $1 billion investment over the next three years.

 

Amar Babu, President of Lenovo Asia Pacific, emphasized that this development supports both Lenovo’s and India’s ‘AI for All’ vision, boosting India’s growth as an innovation center.
