Amazon India Appoints Visionary Leader Samir Kumar as Country Manager

Amazon India has announced a leadership change with Samir Kumar, a 25-year veteran of the company, set to become the new Country Manager effective October 1. Kumar, who has been with Amazon since 1999 and was instrumental in launching Amazon.in in 2013, will oversee Amazon’s consumer business in India while maintaining his current roles for markets in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey.

This transition follows Manish Tiwary’s decision to explore new opportunities outside the company. In an internal announcement, Amit Agarwal, SVP for Emerging Markets, commended Tiwary’s significant contributions to Amazon.in’s growth and leadership. The current Amazon.in leadership team, including Saurabh Srivastava, Harsh Goyal, Amit Nanda, and Aastha Jain, will now report to Kumar, while Kishore Thota will report directly to Agarwal.

Agarwal expressed optimism about the future under Kumar’s leadership, emphasizing India’s strategic significance for Amazon’s continued innovation and customer satisfaction.
