Hyderabad’s position as a leading global technology hub received a significant boost as the Telangana government announced fresh investments from global majors including Costco Wholesale, Stolt-Nielsen Limited, and Western Union. The announcements followed the Telangana Rising Global Summit held at Bharat Future City, reinforcing the city’s growing appeal for global capability centres (GCCs).
Senior executives from the companies cited world-class infrastructure, a deep technology talent pool, and a supportive policy ecosystem as key drivers behind their expansion into Hyderabad. US retail giant Costco Wholesale plans to set up a GCC expected to scale beyond 500 employees, serving as a global technology backbone for digital platforms, data and AI initiatives, supply chain systems, and enterprise operations.
UK-based bulk logistics leader Stolt-Nielsen Limited will establish a digital innovation centre in Hyderabad, positioning it as a global hub for product engineering, DevOps, automation, data analytics, and next-generation operational systems. Meanwhile, Western Union confirmed its second India GCC in Hyderabad, focused on platform engineering and advanced digital transformation. Developed with HCLTech under a Build-Operate-Transfer model, the centre is expected to employ over 400 professionals.
Adding further momentum, Google, in partnership with the Telangana government, launched the Google for Startups Hub at T-Hub, offering AI-focused startups access to mentorship, coworking spaces, and investors strengthening Hyderabad’s innovation ecosystem.
