Cognizant has formally commenced work on its upcoming 8,000-seat campus in Visakhapatnam with the inauguration of an interim TechFin centre capable of hosting 1,000 associates. This marks the company’s largest expansion in Andhra Pradesh and a major milestone in the state’s journey toward becoming a global technology hub.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who inaugurated the interim facility, described the move as a landmark step in transforming the state into a world-class destination where global enterprises can build, innovate, and scale. Cognizant plans to invest ₹1,583 crore to develop the 22-acre campus in three phases by 2033. Phase one construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with operations expected to start in early 2029, supporting around 3,000 associates.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted that the investment will significantly boost Visakhapatnam’s technology ecosystem while creating new opportunities for local talent. Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S noted that the expansion reflects the company’s strong confidence in the city’s talent pool and long-term potential. The interim TechFin centre will focus on AI, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud solutions, featuring collaborative workspaces and a client experience centre.

This expansion further strengthens Cognizant’s growing India footprint, alongside its delivery centres in Bhubaneswar, Indore, and GIFT City, and innovation initiatives such as its AI Lab and Cognizant Moment Studio in Bengaluru.
