Physical AI startup Provision Labs, founded by Anjali Sardana, has acquired Mumbai-based hardware startup Basilisk Industries for an undisclosed amount as it expands its hardware and perception capabilities.
Basilisk founder Shourya Watwani will lead hardware development at Provision Labs and work on its in-house post-processing models. His team will also join the company, Sardana announced in a LinkedIn post.
Founded in 2023, Basilisk develops perception technology that enables machines to understand and respond to their surroundings. Its work includes a 3D hand-tracking model, redesigned perception hardware for Provision and an early version of a lightweight tactile glove for capturing touch data.
Provision Labs focuses on collecting real-world data to train and test physical AI systems used in robotics and machines. The company is also expanding its research and engineering teams across San Francisco, Toronto and Bengaluru, with hiring across computer vision, perception, tactile data and hardware development.
The acquisition comes amid growing attention to privacy and consent following questions around real-world data collection through Sardana’s other startup, Pronto.
