Bharti Airtel has secured a US$1 billion investment for its data center subsidiary Nxtra Data Limited, led by Alpha Wave Global alongside existing investor Carlyle and Anchorage Capital. The investment will support Nxtra’s next phase of growth, valuing the company at approximately US$3.1 billion post-transaction.
Under the agreement, Alpha Wave Global will invest US$435 million, Carlyle US$240 million, and Anchorage Capital US$35 million, with Airtel also participating while retaining a controlling stake. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals.
Nxtra plans to utilize the capital infusion to expand its AI-powered data center footprint across India, strengthening capabilities in predictive maintenance, energy optimization, and automated operations. The company aims to significantly scale its infrastructure to meet rising demand from enterprises, hyperscalers, and government institutions.
