Space News
Hyderabad-based space-tech startup TakeMe2Space is developing orbital computing satellites designed to process and store data directly in space, potentially bringing data-centre capabilities beyond Earth. The company plans to launch its orbital computing satellite aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
Unlike conventional satellites that send large volumes of raw data back to Earth, TakeMe2Space’s approach focuses on in-orbit processing and storage, allowing data to be analysed closer to where it is generated.
The company’s planned Generation-2 satellites are expected to use NVIDIA GPUs, with up to 1,500W of computing power and 100TB of storage. Its applications are aimed at sectors including agriculture, mining, insurance and GIS.
TakeMe2Space already has 23 customers and plans to expand its network of orbital computing satellites, building what it describes as an infrastructure and data-centre ecosystem in space.
The Bigger Picture
As satellite-generated data continues to grow, processing information in orbit could reduce data-transfer requirements and enable faster space-based intelligence.
TakeMe2Space highlights the emerging convergence of space technology, AI infrastructure and edge computing, opening a new frontier for how enterprises may process data beyond Earth.
