SpaceX to Acquire AI Coding Startup Cursor in $60 Billion All-Stock Deal Telecom News

SpaceX has officially announced the acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind the rapidly growing AI coding platform Cursor, in a $60 billion all-stock transaction. According to a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the deal will be executed through X67 Inc., a wholly owned SpaceX subsidiary, which will merge with Anysphere. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.

Founded in 2022 by MIT graduates Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Aman Sanger, and Arvid Lunnemark, Cursor emerged as a fork of Microsoft’s VS Code editor and quickly became one of the most prominent AI-powered software development platforms. The company has raised more than $2.8 billion in funding, including a $2.3 billion Series D round in November 2025 that valued the startup at $29.3 billion.

The acquisition follows SpaceX’s $250 billion all-stock purchase of xAI earlier this year and comes shortly after its record-breaking Nasdaq IPO, which raised approximately $85.7 billion.
