ISRO Successfully Launches GSAT-7R Satellite, Strengthening India’s Naval Communication and Space Capabilities Space News

In a landmark achievement for India’s space and defence sectors, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched the Indian Navy’s GSAT-7R (CMS-03) satellite aboard the powerful LVM3-M5 ‘Bahubali’ rocket from Sriharikota. Entirely designed and developed in India, the 4,400 kg satellite will significantly boost secure naval communication, enabling real-time coordination between ships, submarines, and aircraft across the Indian Ocean Region.

The GSAT-7R satellite integrates advanced voice, data, and video connectivity, enhancing India’s maritime domain awareness and defence preparedness. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan lauded the milestone, stating that the Indian space sector is “soaring high to provide valuable services to the user community in and around the Indian region.” Former ISRO chief S. Somanath praised the mission for demonstrating the reliability and versatility of the LVM3 launcher.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the launch as a “symbol of national progress and empowerment,” while Lt. Gen. A.K.
