IG Defence Unveils Project KAL, Indigenous Long-Range Strike Drone Platform Deeptech

IG Defence has unveiled Project KAL, an indigenous long-range unmanned strike platform designed to enhance India’s deep-penetration combat and precision strike capabilities. The system is being developed as a one-way attack drone, commonly known as a loitering munition, capable of delivering explosive payloads across extended distances at relatively lower operational costs.

Founded in 2018 in Noida by Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya and Om Prakash, the company initially focused on unmanned aerial systems for surveillance, mapping, and defence applications. Today, IG Defence employs a growing team of engineers and specialists developing advanced UAV technologies, counter-drone systems, and AI-enabled battlefield solutions.

According to the company, Project KAL is designed for long-range missions targeting high-value strategic assets, with a projected operational range of up to 1,000 kilometres and an endurance of three to five hours.

To strengthen operational alignment, the startup has onboarded retired defence leaders including Anil Kumar Samantara, Anil Chait, and Rajendra N. Gaekwad to support technology development and strategic guidance.
