Enterprise AI
Walmart-owned Flipkart has acquired a majority stake in Minivet AI Labs, a generative AI startup specialising in video and visual content creation for ecommerce platforms. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the acquisition underscores Flipkart’s accelerating focus on embedding artificial intelligence across its product discovery, cataloguing, and seller enablement workflows.
Founded in 2024, Minivet AI Labs develops AI-powered tools that transform static product catalogues into rich, high-quality visual and video assets at scale. The startup’s technology addresses a critical ecommerce challenge; creating consistent, engaging content across vast and diverse seller ecosystems. By automating and enhancing content generation, Minivet AI helps improve visual appeal, standardisation, and discoverability of products.
Flipkart stated that Minivet AI’s capabilities will be integrated into its platform to strengthen content creation processes and elevate the overall customer experience. As competition intensifies in digital commerce, ecommerce players are increasingly turning to generative AI to reduce manual effort, accelerate onboarding, and improve conversion rates through better product presentation.
This acquisition reflects Flipkart’s broader strategy to leverage AI-driven innovation to enhance marketplace efficiency, empower sellers, and deliver more immersive shopping experiences to consumers across India’s fast-growing ecommerce landscape.
