Cloudflare Acquires VoidZero, Reinforcing Commitment to the Open-Source JavaScript Ecosystem E-Governance

Cloudflare has announced the acquisition of VoidZero, the company behind widely adopted developer tools including Vite, Vitest, Rolldown, Oxc, and Vite+. As part of the move, the entire VoidZero team, led by Vite creator Evan You, will join Cloudflare.

The company emphasized that all projects will remain open source, MIT-licensed, vendor-agnostic, and community-driven. Applications built with Vite will continue to run across platforms, ensuring developers retain flexibility and portability.

Vite has become a foundational tool across the JavaScript ecosystem, powering frameworks such as Vue, SvelteKit, Nuxt, Astro, Solid, Qwik, Angular, React Router, and TanStack Start. Cloudflare stated that the acquisition is aimed at strengthening these ecosystem tools through increased engineering investment and long-term support, while preserving their independent development roadmap.

Further demonstrating its commitment to open source, Cloudflare has pledged a $1 million Vite Ecosystem Fund to support maintainers and contributors, helping drive continued innovation and growth across the broader JavaScript community.
