Neelkanth Mishra has been appointed as India’s Executive Director at The World Bank Group, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished career spanning economics, finance, capital markets, research, and public policy.

With nearly 29 years of experience, Neelkanth is widely recognized as one of India’s leading economists and market strategists. Most recently, he served as Chief Economist at Axis Bank and Head of Global Research & Board Member at Axis Capital, where he played a key role in shaping economic outlooks and investment strategies.

Prior to joining the Axis Group, he spent almost two decades with Credit Suisse, holding several senior leadership positions including Managing Director, Co-Head of APAC Strategy, India Equity Strategy Head, and India Head of Research. Earlier in his career, he also worked with Infosys Technologies and Hindustan Lever.
