Accenture Plans New Visakhapatnam Campus, Set to Generate 12,000 Jobs in India IndustryX

Accenture, the global tech consulting giant, is planning a new campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, expected to create around 12,000 jobs, according to sources cited by Reuters. The initiative will leverage the state’s policy offering leased land at just ₹0.99 per acre for large firms generating employment, following similar projects by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Cognizant.

India already accounts for Accenture’s largest workforce globally, with over 300,000 employees out of its 790,000-strong workforce. A state official confirmed that the proposal “will go through,” signaling strong government support. The investment value for the facility is yet to be disclosed.

TCS and Cognizant have already secured land under the same policy, planning campuses expected to generate 20,000 jobs with investments of $154 million and $183 million, respectively. The trend reflects a broader move by IT firms toward Tier-2 cities to capitalize on lower land, rental, and wage costs while hiring locally in a post-pandemic environment.

Global factors, including the U.S. H-1B visa fee increase and proposed 25% tax on overseas outsourcing, are accelerating domestic talent localization, making Indian campuses strategically critical for global IT firms like Accenture.
