India has taken a bold step in democratizing language technology with the launch of VoiceERA, an open-source Voice AI stack built on the BHASHINI National Language Infrastructure. Introduced at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, this framework is designed to be open, pluggable, interoperable, cloud-deployable, and on-premise ready—empowering innovators to build scalable multilingual systems.
Led by Amitabh Nag, CEO of BHASHINI, in collaboration with EkStep Foundation, COSS, IIIT Bangalore, and AI4Bharat, VoiceERA represents a milestone in India’s digital journey. As Nag emphasized, the initiative is about enabling secure, dignified, and accessible communication between citizens and the State, while unlocking opportunities for enterprises and startups to innovate in voice-driven technologies.
This launch signals India’s commitment to building inclusive AI ecosystems that bridge linguistic divides and strengthen digital empowerment. With VoiceERA, the future of multilingual Voice AI is not just imagined—it’s here.
