Enterprise AI
Only 13% of CIOs say their enterprises have realized significant or transformational value from AI, according to a Gartner survey of more than 2,000 technology leaders. The findings highlight a widening gap between the rapid expansion of AI use cases and the business value organizations are actually achieving.
Gartner said AI use cases have accelerated over the past two years, with the number of use cases increasing significantly, but the likelihood of individual use-case success remains at about one in five. The research suggests that increasing AI deployment alone does not guarantee measurable business outcomes.
Gartner analyst Alicia Mullery said organizations need stronger disciplines around defining the value of AI use cases before investment and establishing clear criteria for when initiatives should be scaled or stopped.
The research points to a shift in CIO priorities from expanding AI adoption to improving AI economics, value realization and organizational readiness.
Why It Matters: Enterprises are increasing AI investments, but limited value realization shows that deployment at scale must be matched with clear business outcomes, governance and disciplined investment decisions.
CXO TechBOT Perspective: The findings reinforce that the next phase of enterprise AI will be measured less by the number of AI initiatives launched and more by measurable ROI, business impact and the ability to scale successful use cases.
