Olectra Greentech Limited has taken a significant step in advancing India’s clean and sustainable transport agenda with the commencement of Phase I commercial operations at its new greenfield electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, Telangana. Located at Seetharampur, the state-of-the-art plant became operational on December 31, marking a key milestone in the company’s expansion strategy within the electric bus segment.
The first phase of the facility brings an annual production capacity of 2,500 electric buses, accounting for half of the plant’s total planned capacity. This expansion substantially enhances Olectra Greentech’s manufacturing capabilities, enabling the company to efficiently meet its growing order book while reinforcing its leadership in electric public transportation solutions.
The new manufacturing unit reflects Olectra Greentech’s long-term commitment to clean mobility, technological innovation, and scalable manufacturing. It also aligns closely with India’s national objectives to reduce carbon emissions, promote eco-friendly mass transit, and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across urban and intercity transport networks.
The company has formally informed its lead lender, the State Bank of India, about the commencement of operations, highlighting strong institutional support for the project. With the Hyderabad facility now operational, Olectra Greentech is well-positioned to expand its market presence and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable public transportation in India.
