Sanjay Kumar, currently DIRECTOR (MARKETING) at GAIL (India) Limited, has been appointed as the next MANAGING DIRECTOR AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of Petronet LNG Limited, effective May 13, 2027, for a five-year term.
With over 35 years of experience across the natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) value chain, Sanjay brings extensive technical, commercial and strategic expertise to the role. He assumed charge as Director (Marketing) at GAIL in June 2023, contributing to the company’s marketing and commercial operations.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, he holds a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA, combining technical knowledge with business acumen.
Petronet LNG operates major LNG import and regasification terminals at Dahej, Gujarat, and Kochi, Kerala. As India focuses on strengthening energy security and expanding natural gas infrastructure, the company is pursuing capacity expansion, a proposed greenfield LNG terminal on the eastern coast and a petrochemicals project at Dahej.
Sanjay’s appointment comes at a significant time for India’s evolving energy sector.
