F2A expands deeptech fund to ₹3,500 crore, targets AI and frontier technology startups Deeptech

Nandan Nilekani has anchored the fund with ₹2,200 crore, while Indian investors account for 70% of the capital base and international investors contribute the remaining 30%.

F2A plans to invest in 12 to 15 companies over the next two to three years, with individual investments ranging from ₹100 crore to ₹200 crore. Its focus areas include semiconductors, advanced materials, defence technology, deeptech infrastructure and AI-powered businesses.

The fund initially targeted ₹2,000 crore but attracted subscriptions exceeding ₹3,500 crore. As of October 13, the remaining ₹500 crore allocation was still under negotiation.

The expansion aims to address a funding gap for Indian deeptech startups that need substantial capital to scale validated technologies into large businesses. For founders in AI and frontier technology, F2A’s strategy could strengthen access to domestic growth-stage funding.
