Cooper Standard Elevates Visionary Leader Soma Venkat to Senior Vice President, Chief Information Technology and AI Officer Leadership

Cooper Standard has elevated Soma Venkat, Ph.D., to Senior Vice President, Chief Information Technology and AI Officer, effective September 15, 2025. In this expanded role, Venkat will spearhead the company’s artificial intelligence strategy, driving enterprise-wide innovation and delivering transformative solutions, while continuing to oversee global IT operations. Based at the company’s world headquarters in Northville, Michigan, he will be instrumental in unlocking AI’s full potential for the business.

Jeffrey Edwards, Chairman and CEO of Cooper Standard, emphasized that Venkat’s deep expertise will accelerate the company’s AI journey, optimize operations, and enable faster delivery of market-ready solutions.

Venkat rejoined Cooper Standard in 2021 as SVP and CIO, after serving as CIO at IXS, where he led digitization and cybersecurity programs. Between 2016 and 2020, he advanced through IT leadership roles at Cooper Standard, ultimately serving as Global VP of IT. Holding a Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics, he has also earned executive certifications from Chicago Booth and MIT Sloan.
