Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is investing ₹2,500 crore to establish a defence manufacturing ecosystem across 914 acres in Sri Sathya Sai district, Andhra Pradesh, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh announced. The project is expected to bring advanced defence manufacturing capabilities to the Rayalaseema region, creating opportunities for local industries and strengthening the supplier network. BEL, a Central government-owned Navratna public sector enterprise, will lead the investment. According to Lokesh, the facility is expected to generate around 800 jobs for local youth while supporting the development of a broader industrial ecosystem around defence manufacturing. Lokesh said the state government had fulfilled its commitment to bringing the project to the region, stating, “We said it, and we did it!” The investment is expected to add to Andhra Pradesh’s industrial development efforts, with potential opportunities in high-tech manufacturing, employment and ancillary industries.
