Tata Motors has announced the appointment of Shailesh Chandra as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective October 1, 2025. A Tata veteran for over two decades, Chandra has been instrumental in shaping the company’s transformation journey, particularly in passenger vehicles and electric mobility.
He has previously served as Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, where he spearheaded the company’s leadership in India’s growing EV market. Earlier, as President of the Passenger Vehicles Business Unit and President of Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy, Chandra played a defining role in building Tata Motors’ EV roadmap and strengthening its passenger vehicle portfolio.
Before these leadership roles, Chandra worked at Tata Sons Limited in Group Strategy and the Chairman’s Office, in addition to holding diverse positions at Tata Motors across corporate strategy, defense vehicle marketing, vendor development, and production management. His extensive experience across businesses uniquely positions him to drive Tata Motors’ next phase of growth in both domestic and global markets.
