Karnataka IT and BT Minister Priyank M Kharge said the partnership will also focus on strengthening safeguards against deepfakes, unauthorised voice cloning, fraud and impersonation as voice technologies become more widely adopted.
A key initiative will support eligible individuals who have lost their ability to speak by enabling them to communicate using a synthetic version of their own voice. The programme will include support for Kannada and offer free lifetime licences under ElevenLabs’ initiative.
The state will also explore Voice AI applications across government helplines, grievance redressal and access to public services, potentially making citizen interactions more accessible and efficient.
