EyeROV, an Indian underwater robotics startup, has signed a Rs 47 crore contract with the Indian Navy to supply advanced Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (UWROVs), reinforcing the nation’s naval capabilities with homegrown technology.
The startup’s UWROVs have been rigorously tested in extreme conditions, including deep-water volcanic studies at depths beyond 400 meters and the icy waters of the Antarctic Sea, showcasing their precision, reliability, and operational safety for real-world missions.
EyeROV’s flagship TROUT ROV, a 300-meter depth-rated, military-grade vehicle, is designed for both defense and commercial applications. With advanced payload capabilities, it supports underwater surveillance and reconnaissance missions, enabling effective monitoring of naval environments.
“This recognition rewards eight years of dedicated effort,” said Johns T. Mathai, co-founder and CEO. “We thank iDEX and the Navy for supporting advanced indigenous solutions. Our vision remains to deliver world-class technologies for the nation.”
Co-founder and CTO Kannappa P. emphasized that the Navy deal validates India’s defense deep-tech innovation. Founded in 2017, EyeROV has completed over 100 deployments across India, West Asia, APAC, and Europe, serving clients including DRDO, Indian Coast Guard, CSIR, and NCPOR. The startup raised $1.2 million in pre-Series A funding from Unicorn India Ventures and has been recognized among India’s top five defense-tech startups, winning the National Startup Award 2022.
