State Bank of India (SBI) has elected seasoned banking leader Khurshed Dordi as an Independent Director on its Central Board, bringing more than three decades of global banking, governance, risk management, and transformation expertise to India’s largest bank.

Khurshed joins the board at a pivotal time for SBI, a financial institution with a balance sheet nearing US$1 trillion, serving over 500 million customers and playing a critical role in India’s economic growth and digital financial ecosystem. His appointment reflects SBI’s continued focus on strong governance, risk oversight, and long-term value creation.

A respected banking veteran, Khurshed spent over 24 years with Deutsche Bank, holding several senior leadership positions, including Managing Director, Group COO, Business Head for Global Capability Centers, and interim Group CEO responsibilities in India. His experience spans corporate and investment banking, capital markets, asset management, technology, operations, enterprise risk, governance, and large-scale transformation initiatives.

In addition to his board leadership, Dordi is the Founder of BD Consult, a leadership advisor, executive coach, and bestselling author. He is expected to contribute strategic insight, governance excellence, and global banking expertise to support SBI’s continued growth and resilience.
