Unacademy COO Jagnoor Singh Resigns; Founders Munjal and Jain to Lead

Unacademy is undergoing significant changes as COO Jagnoor Singh steps down, transitioning over the next six months. Co-founders Gaurav Munjal and Sumit Jain will oversee the offline business, focusing on sustainable growth and profitability.

The move follows Hemesh Singh’s recent exit after eight years, with Sumit Jain now joining Munjal and Roman Saini as co-founders. Unacademy aims to streamline operations amid cost-cutting measures, having recently laid off 250 employees to improve efficiency.

The Bengaluru-based edtech giant, founded in 2015, serves 91,000 educators and 99 million learners. Despite challenges, Unacademy has reduced its net loss by 40% in FY23. Talks with K-12 Techno Services for a potential acquisition are in early stages.

Backed by investors like Tiger Global and Meta, Unacademy has raised $800 million, last valued at $3 billion.
