Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the expansion of its Bengaluru R&D Centre of Excellence with an investment of ₹160 crore, underscoring its commitment to strengthening India’s life sciences ecosystem and supporting Karnataka’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) vision.
The newly expanded 37,000 sq. ft. facility, inaugurated by Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, ISS, CEO of Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), will create over 100 new jobs and drive cutting-edge research in immunoassays, protein analysis, and cell-based studies.
Over the past 18 years, Thermo Fisher’s Bengaluru centre has developed 2,000+ recombinant antibodies and conducted 25,000+ tests, significantly contributing to research in infectious diseases and cancer biology.
Karnataka Minister Priyank M Kharge praised the expansion as a milestone in bolstering the state’s leadership in biotechnology and scientific research, while Thermo Fisher leaders reaffirmed Bengaluru’s pivotal role in the company’s global innovation network.
