The Sustainability Mafia (SusMafia), a Bengaluru-based non-profit working at the intersection of climate education, early-stage incubation, and ecosystem building, has received a ₹2 crore CSR grant from Zerodha. The funding will be deployed to build a skilled, climate-aware workforce and help early-stage climate-tech startups scale solutions with measurable impact across critical areas such as air quality, water and sanitation, waste management, carbon reduction, and the circular economy.
Founded in 2018, SusMafia brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders to make sustainability the norm through collaborative, outcome-driven programs for founders, investors, and students. The platform operates as a coalition, leveraging shared resources, networks, and expertise to address systemic challenges in India’s climate action ecosystem.
According to the organization, its initiatives are designed to close key gaps, including the shortage of industry-ready climate talent, limited early-stage validation support for founders, and the absence of trusted platforms connecting innovators with capital, corporates, and pilot opportunities. Through its Climate Ninja program, SusMafia has trained over 400 climate professionals, while its incubation efforts have deployed ₹1 crore in grants to support emerging ventures.
Looking ahead, SusMafia plans to train 300+ Climate Ninjas, support 20+ early-stage startups, and convene ecosystem forums such as SusCrunch to accelerate collaboration and climate innovation across India.
