Deeptech
Founded by Suyash Singh, Denil Chawda, Kishan Thakkar, Pranit Mehta and Rakshit Bhatt, GalaxEye is developing an OptoSAR satellite that combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) with optical imaging. The Rs 247.69 crore project targets sub-0.5 metre resolution and aims to advance the technology from TRL-6 to TRL-9.
While optical satellites can face limitations from cloud cover and darkness, SAR can operate through clouds and without daylight. Combining both technologies could enable more continuous and detailed Earth observation for surveillance, vehicle detection and target classification.
The project also aims to support high-resolution monitoring of land and natural resources through improved Earth data.
Why It Matters
The project strengthens India’s private space capabilities by combining optical and radar sensing for more resilient, high-resolution Earth observation across diverse conditions.
