Industry Veteran Dilip Gopinath Appointed as Head of Innovation Banking, India at HSBC Leadership

HSBC Innovation Banking has appointed Dilip Gopinath as Head of Innovation Banking, India, reinforcing its commitment to fueling the growth of startups and tech-enabled enterprises across the country.

Dilip brings over two decades of experience with HSBC, where he has led transformative initiatives through roles such as Director & Head, Portfolio Coverage – Tech, and Director & Country Lead – Tech, Commercial Banking. In these positions, he designed strategic banking propositions tailored for startups and high-growth technology firms.

In his new role, Dilip will spearhead HSBC Innovation Banking’s mission to deploy $1 billion in non-dilutive debt capital to Indian startups across all growth stages, from seed funding to IPO. His leadership aims to empower founders and investors to scale their ventures while retaining greater control over their businesses.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, and the University of Madras, Dilip combines deep financial expertise with a passion for advancing India’s venture and technology ecosystem.
