Google Cloud names Amit Kumar as interim head of India business Leadership

Google Cloud has named Amit Kumar as interim head of its India business, succeeding Sashikumar Sreedharan. The leadership change comes as India emerges as a key market in the global cloud and AI landscape.

Amit brings more than 20 years of technology and business experience, including over 13 years at Microsoft and a stint at Apple. He has spent more than five years with Google Cloud and most recently led its digital-native business in India, working closely with startups, technology companies and enterprises.

His appointment comes as Google strengthens its India AI and cloud ambitions. The company has announced plans for a $15-billion AI hub in Visakhapatnam, alongside continued investments in cloud infrastructure and enterprise AI capabilities.

Amit’s experience with digital-native businesses positions him to support Google Cloud’s efforts to accelerate AI adoption and enterprise transformation in India, as organisations increasingly move from experimentation to scaled deployment.

The transition highlights the growing strategic importance of India in Google Cloud’s global AI and cloud strategy
