India’s AI Revolution: Project EKA Sets the Stage for a New Era of Innovation

India is making a bold move in the global AI space with Project EKA, an ambitious initiative by Soket AI Labs in partnership with Macgence. Aimed at developing a 100B+ parameter multilingual AI model, EKA is designed to cater to India’s linguistic diversity and socio-economic needs, reinforcing the nation’s push for AI sovereignty.

With backing from the India AI Mission and leaders like Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, this project is expected to drive AI adoption across healthcare, defense, finance, and governance. It is spearheaded by industry leaders Abhishek Upperwal (Soket AI Labs), Harshul Arora (Macgence), Praveen Pankajakshan, PhD, Soma Dhavala, and experts from IITs, IISc, and global AI research hubs.

Beyond just AI development, EKA aims to build an open-source, ethical AI ecosystem tailored for India’s unique challenges. With a growing push for a $10M R&D investment, this initiative is gaining momentum.
