Indian Firms Prioritise Upskilling as Demand for Next-Gen Tech Rises

Indian companies are increasingly focusing on upskilling their workforce to meet the demands of next-gen technologies. The “SkillScape 2024” report by People Matters and UNext highlights that 82% of organisations find current training programs inadequate for preparing employees for tech-driven roles. With 55% of companies identifying data science, analytics, cybersecurity, and IoT as essential skills, the talent shortage is becoming a major hurdle. Around 72% of organisations are struggling to recruit experts in these fields, while 50% believe that emerging job roles will significantly reshape the skilling landscape. Only 20% of firms regularly assess employee competencies, leaving many vulnerable to skill gaps.
